Bridge, Elmer Harold

Dec.2, 1914- Mar.14, 2017

Elmer Bridge passed away at Coronation Continuing Care. He was born in Ferndale, Ontario and came west with his family in 1920 to farm north of Veteran. In 1923 they moved to the farm at Talbot where he grew up. He farmed with his dad and drove truck. He loved playing hockey and baseball and tried rodeoing for a while. He married Clarice LaGore in 1938. In 1945 they bought the Talbot Store. Clairce ran the store and Post Office and Elmer trucked milk to the creamery, grain, gravel, coal and cattle. The Post Office closed in 1970 and they closed the store soon after. In 1982 they moved to a new house on the farm. In the 1970s Elmer started raising Blond d’Aquitaine cattle. Clarice died in 1990 and he continued to farm. He met Beth Gillard through the cattle business and they had a great friendship for many years. Beth died in 2010 and in the fall of 2011 Elmer had some medical problems so in 2012 he moved into Coronation Continuing Care where he found a new life keeping the staff & residents entertained. The family would like to thank everyone for their gifts, and condolences. Special thanks to the doctors and staff for the great care Elmer received.
