KUBINCHAK, Betty
1930 – 2021
Mrs. Betty Rose Kubinchak (nee Wigley) passed away peacefully, at Calgary, Alberta, on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the age of 91 years. Betty was born on March 27, 1930 in Castor, Alberta; where she grew up on a farm alongside her five brothers and two sisters. She graduated early from school, at the age of sixteen years, and began a long career in the Business of Hospitality. Betty moved from Castor, to Coronation, where she married Harry John Kubinchak on August 19, 1950. Together, they raised five children while owning and operating Town & Country Services Café and Garage, until 1979. This was followed by a Landscaping Business, until Harry’s passing. Betty lived in a few different places over the years, including; Unity, Saskatchewan, Castor, Stettler, Red Deer, Olds and Calgary; however, Coronation was always “home” to her, as she mentioned it often and with fondness.
Betty was hospitable, loved people and made friends wherever she went. She was extremely talented and crafty and could create anything with her hands. Betty loved gifting her knitted creations of infant layettes to all the grandchildren; and the family has a huge selection of her knitted afghans, as precious keepsakes. She was well known for her homemade pies and bread, and was always up to trying out new things. Betty was quick witted and had an answer, or comeback, for every occasion. She could make people laugh and draw close to her. Betty was the last of her generation and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Her legacy continues on in her family:
Pamela Currier of Edmonton, Alberta, and daughter, Karina (Darin) Folden and children, Madyson and Nathan of Blackfalds, Alberta;
