David Plehnert Obituary

David passed away at home Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at the age of 64 years.  David Arthur Plehnert was born December 1, 1955, to parents Heins and Tina Plehnert. Being raised on the farm with three siblings, there were always lots of chores to do, and lots of adventures to be had. He was always willing and able to help with whatever needed to be done. David took all his schooling in Coronation and probably didn’t like the long bus rides that we sometimes had to endure. David enjoyed the farm life and all the challenges that went with it. He had the mind of an engineer and was always building something for himself, instead of just going out and buying it. He was great at repairing machinery and getting equipment ready for seeding, baling and harvesting. He would often say “What is wrong with the engineers that build this stuff”, then laugh knowing his nephews were all engineers. He enjoyed camping and fishing and many family trips they went on. Later in life, he enjoyed trips with his mom and dad to northern Saskatchewan to go fishing with Uncle Edward; or you just might find them on a Sunday down at Blood Indian, trying to catch the “big one”. David enjoyed hunting and the hunting trips with his friends. Over and last few years though, he enjoyed seeing the moose and deer being free in their own environment. He posted his land when he quit hunting, because “they needed a safe haven”. He often tracked moose and deer herds, and would give Ed updates often. He went on many trips out west to the foothills, to go snowmobiling and quadding. He enjoyed those trips immensely. He was one of the last hold outs for riding a quad, but did join the ranks of the side by side owners recently. He enjoyed riding on the frozen Battle River with the guys. David didn’t always feel comfortable with a large group of people. He was shy and quiet. Through the years he made some real close friends and relationships with people. David was always willing to help anyone who asked for help and didn’t expect anything in return. He will be truly missed by all his family and friends. David will be lovingly remembered by his brother, Ed (Lesa) Plehnert and family, Brad (Jess), Jack and Karli; his sister, Ruth Summers and family, Adaline (Mike) Breeanne and Hayley, Marlene (James) and Eldon, Violet (Basit), and Jennifer (Chad); his sister, Judy (Wade) Lindmark and family, Ryan, (Jua) and Henry, Barry (Tanis) Nash, Bo, Renn and Jayde, Robbie (Larissa), and Brooke (Devin). David was predeceased by his grandparents, Isaac and Elizabeth Dyck and Henry and Suzanne Plehnert; his parents, Heins and Tina Plehnert and a brother-in-law, Ken Summers. A Private Service was held at Haneyville Cemetery. If desired, Memorial Donations in David’s honor may be made to the Coronation/Consort Victim Services, or a charity of one’s choice. We, the family of David would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that phoned, sent cards, messages, or flowers. A big thank you to all the community members that prepared a supper for our family.  Thank you also to the Coronation RCMP and Coronation/Consort Victim Services. Your support was greatly appreciated. Thank you to Coronation Funeral Home. To honour and remember Dave, we are planning a quad ride on the Battle River. This will take place when the river is frozen and safe to ride on, so the date is yet to be determined. Everyone who would like to attend is welcome.
